Statement on 2026/27 season ticket pricing
Union Golf Road (UGR), the independent supporters’ group, is disappointed by Altrincham FC’s decision to remove the 18-21 season ticket category and significantly increase prices for younger supporters ahead of the 2026/27 season.
We believe the 18-21 age range represents one of the most important stages in a supporter’s journey. These are the years when many young fans leave school, start work, move away for university, gain greater independence and make long-term decisions about how they spend both their time and money.
Retaining supporters through this period is crucial. A clear progression from junior supporter to young adult and then adult supporter helps build lifelong connections with the football club. It also strengthens the atmosphere, volunteer base and future supporter growth that everyone wants to see at Altrincham FC.
Following discussions with the club, we understand the decision has been made in response to limited uptake of the 18-21 concession during the 2024/25 season, alongside the wider financial pressures facing the club after several years without a ticket price increase.
While we appreciate the club’s transparency and willingness to explain its rationale, we remain concerned that removing this pathway for younger supporters represents a step in the wrong direction.
We have raised these concerns directly with the club and suggested that consideration be given to reintroducing a young adult concession in some form, whether through season tickets, matchday tickets or future pricing reviews.
We thank the club for engaging constructively throughout these discussions and will continue to work positively with them on issues affecting supporters. Our objective remains the same: advocating for an affordable and accessible pathway that encourages the next generation of Altrincham supporters to remain engaged with the club for years to come.
